Konserttikeskus

Konserttikeskus (Concert Centre Finland in English, Konsertcentralen in Swedish) is an independent non-profit organization established in 1963 and funded by the Finnish Ministry of Education as well as some minor sources. Its aim is to organize tours of high-quality concert programs in a wide variety all over Finland in public schools and kindergartens. The total number of concerts and musical workshops vary annually between 1100 and 1500.

An essential part of the concerts is nowadays arranged following the Norwegian subscription model: all the schoolchildren of some 60 municipalities can annually enjoy a school concert provided by Konserttikeskus.

Konserttikeskus has also launched in Finland the successful Norwegian model Students as Concert Organizers where schoolchildren take part in the technical arranging of concerts and other events in schools

In addition to school concerts Konserttikeskus occasionally arranges family concerts, festivals, conferences, develops new concepts and participates in a range of cultural networks and projects, both nationally and internationally. Konserttikeskus is an associated member of Jeunesses Musicales International.
